2. How does your media product represent particular social groups ?

Our antagonist was decided through conventions of horror movies, the dark and hidden identity. As you can see from the image above our antagonist is very similar to the antagonist to of a very famous horror film, Scream. Like the antagonist from Scream, we decided to portray our character as dark by dressing him black clothing, this represents the eerie and dark persona that the antagonist carries. This allows the audience to understand that this character is going to be a threat to others and people must not go near him. Their intimidating stature provides them both with dominance and increases their dark character.
In the screenshots above, both characters are holding knives. This is a very typical murder weapon in horror films and therefore we decided to stick to conventions and make our antagonist carry a knife as a method to end the lives of his victims.

By comparing the antagonists from our film opening to Screams' antagonist, we can see that we portrayed our killer as male due to his big stature. This is very stereotypical to horror films as many horrors tend to have the killer as male because they are seen as the more dominated therefore more suited to a killer role. In conclusion we have decided through these methods, that our antagonist is male and the audience will understand this by these conventions.
